Dear Alliance Church Family,
I want to share a few thoughts with you on this wonderful Tuesday in Dawson Creek where faith living has become conspicuously crucial. Some people may be asking the question: How is it possible to have peace in the middle of chaos? (Remember, God is in complete control and Covid-19 did not catch our Loving Father as a surprise.) Quick answer: Jesus! In John 14:27 he says, "I am leaving you with a gift - peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So, don't be troubled or afraid." (NLT) How is this possible? Jesus never said that we wouldn't face difficult times, but He promised that in Him, you could actually experience heavenly peace; the same peace that calms all storms (Mark 4:39) including oil patch struggles, COVID-19, stock-market plunges, and perhaps all of that which can stir up a storm of fear in our hearts. That kind of peace is a gift only given to you in Jesus, and His peace is bigger and deeper and more infinite than any virus, or economic crisis.
Philippians 4:4-6 - "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus."
Our Board of Elders is having an online meeting in the next few days to address our local needs and plan. At this point, DCAC is cancelling services (as per BC Government meeting limits of less than 50) and the staff is mapping out a way to get Sunday messages, worship and prayer to you using the internet. Remember that you can continue to worship with tithes and offerings using e-Transfer through your banks (to: firstname.lastname@example.org), cheques can also be mailed in. The church office will remain staffed for the time being and we are trusting that as needs arise for charity, help groceries, and most of all prayers...that you will keep us posted.
