Cyril Marlatt - Servant Lead Pastor
I grew up in Calgary, Alberta, where I had early spiritual input from Baptist and United churches, and where I responded to the gospel at nine years of age during a Rex Humbard evangelism service. Perceiving the need for forgiveness and a renewed start in faith and life towards the end of High School, I began to read the Scriptures and some Christian books like The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis and Knowing God by J.I. Packer. God eventually lead me into the church family at Rockyview Alliance Church where in September 1984, the Holy Ghost invaded my life and set me on a path to attend Canadian bible College "for only a year" - mainly to gain foundations for a life of faith. A calling to a four-year degree was solidified when I was privileged to lead a teen to respond to the spiritual birthing God was causing in his life and to follow Jesus as His Lord and Saviour. My call had morphed into a four-year time of preparation for ministry (B.Th.); followed by another four years of serving on staff at CBC (Ambrose University) as the Resident Director and in Student Services; and to attend Seminary (CTS and Regent College). While on staff at CBC (Ambrose University) I began a long-distance relationship with a medical student and married Wanda Wiesner in 1995; we now have five children.
I was ordained with the C&MA in 1995, and I have served at North Shore Alliance (Internship), Yarrow Alliance Church (Youth/Worship), Victoria Alliance (Youth/Associate), Comox Valley Alliance (Planter), Minnedosa Covenant Church (Senior), Fort Nelson Alliance (Senior), Crandbrook Alliance (Assistant), and now, serving Dawson Creek Alliance (Lead). We are grateful for how the Master has lead us here, and love the community of Dawson Creek.
