Serving the Mile '0' City

SINCE 1953

This local congregation was called into being by our Lord, Jesus Christ, in September 1953, with 29 charter members, under the leadership of Pastor Phil Pritchard. Pastor Walter Boldt became its first full-time minister in 1954. He oversaw the building of the Alliance Chapel on 102 Avenue. The first baptism service was held at the Kiskatinaw River with 11 believers following the Lord in baptism.

Our Leadership Team

The staff and leadership here at Dawson Creek Alliance Church is comprised of men and women who love, care and pray for every single person in the church. If you have any questions for any of our staff, feel free to reach out and email them or call our church office to speak with them.

  • D. Cyril Marlatt - Servant Lead Pastor

I grew up in Calgary, Alberta, where I had early spiritual input from Baptist and United churches, and where I responded to the gospel at nine years of age during a Rex Humbard evangelism service. Perceiving the need for forgiveness and a renewed start in faith and life towards the end of High School, I began to read the Scriptures and some Christian books like The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis and Knowing God by J.I. Packer. God eventually lead me into the church family at Rockyview Alliance Church where in September 1984, the Holy Ghost invaded my life and set me on a path to attend Canadian Bible College “for only a year” - mainly to gain foundations for a life of faith. A calling to a four-year degree was solidified when I was privileged to lead a teen to respond to the spiritual birthing God was causing in his life and to follow Jesus as His Lord and Saviour. My call had morphed into a four-year time of preparation for ministry (B.Th.); followed by another four years of serving on staff at CBC (Ambrose University) as the Resident Director and in Student Services; and to attend Seminary (CTS and Regent College). While on staff at CBC (Ambrose University) I began a long-distance relationship with a medical student and married Wanda Wiesner in 1995; we now have five children.

I was ordained with the C&MA in 1995, and I have served at North Shore Alliance (Internship), Yarrow Alliance Church (Youth/Worship), Victoria Alliance (Youth/Associate), Comox Valley Alliance (Planter), Minnedosa Covenant Church (Senior), Fort Nelson Alliance (Senior), Cranbrook Alliance (Assistant), and now, serving Dawson Creek Alliance (Lead).

We are grateful for how the Master has lead us here, and love the community of Dawson Creek.

  • Steven Roszmann - Youth Pastor

Dawson Creek Alliance Church has been my home church since I was 12 years old and now I have the privilege of working here. I enjoy playing sports, games, and music. I especially like doing all these things with my wife, Allie. We have been enjoying married life since we got married in 2014, and are in anticipation of what God has in store for us. I graduated from Peace River Bible Institute with no direction in life, but through different circumstances and a love for connecting with young people, I have been blessed to have been given the responsibility of ministering to the youth of Dawson Creek.

  •  Carmen Brekkaas - Director of Children's Ministries

I began working with children's ministries when I was 12 years old. I began helping in the preschool at the Dawson Creek Alliance and then went to Camp Sagitawa where I fell in love with children's ministry. I went to school at Prairie College (was Prairie Bible Institute) for four year to gain a BA in Youth Ministry. I had my internship at Enchant Evangelical Free Church where I gained even more children's ministry experience. To work for the Church that began it all just feels right and like God is bringing me full circle.

  • Michelle Johnson - Administrative Assistant

I am married to the love of my life and have 3 grown children. I've been privileged to work here at Dawson Creek Alliance since the summer of 2013. This is a great workplace! It's pretty special to be able to talk with your fellow staff about the things of God and to share or pray together at any given time of the day. When I'm not here at the church working, I enjoy knitting, sewing, reading, and hanging out with my family.
